In honor of Bank Iowa’s celebrating 50 years, the Schleswig branch made donations to seven different organizations. Bank Iowa-Schleswig branch manager, K’Lynn Harm said Bank Iowa wasn’t a part of Schleswig community until 2002 when it switched from Farmer State Bank.
As Bank Iowa celebrated this milestone, Harm said they wanted to reach out to the customers and make an impact in the community where their banks are located.
Harm said with her co-workers, they picked things in the Schleswig community, organizations in the community that they knew could benefit from a little bump in their funding.
Donations were given to seven different organizations
Schleswig Volunteer Fire Dept.: $1,000
Immanuel Lutheran Church, Schleswig, Preschool: $500
Under The Son Childcare: $500
Schleswig Public Library: $500
Schleswig Community Pool: $500
Schleswig VFW/American Legion/Auxiliary: $1,000
Schleswig Enterprise : $1,000
She noted they know they didn’t get everyone, but these were the organizations they came up with.
There are nine employees in the Bank Iowa Schleswig location and the building just received some renovations.
Harm explained they moved around the waiting area a little bit and switched that with an office. They painted, received new flooring, ceilings, and updates were made to the heating/cooling/electrical.
Some new focal points to the decorating were also added.
Harm talked about why it’s important to have a bank in a small communities like Schleswig.
“My personal feeling is I want to make an impact on people and help everyone I can,” she said. “As a larger organization, it’s nice to have small town businesses and be able to have a bank in their town.”
