“Daffodil Girl” submitted by Kim Tresnak of Missouri Valley took first place in the Celebrate the Hills Art Show.

“Daffodil Girl” a 15” x 15” beautiful entry of a little girl out in the field of grass, submitted by Kim Tresnak of Missouri Valley took first place in the Celebrate the Hills Art show this year. It is an entry made with colored pencils and well worth the earnings of first place.
Kim Tresnak was born and raised in Missouri Valley. Her artistic journey began with painting ceramics, then after purchasing an aspen lamp, decided she could make one. After buying a wood burning kit, that was her first project using a horse template. She wanted to bring color into her pieces and that led her to explore colored pencil as an art form. Kim’s wood burning work has received recognition throughout her journey such as at Louisville Colorado Art Show and the Harrison County Fair.
Kim enjoys creating detailed animal portraits and continues to work in wood burning, colored pencil and woodworking. For her, art is a journey of continual learning and exploration. What began with a simple aspen lamp and a desire to make it less plain has grown into a lifelong passion for creating and sharing her artwork with others.
Kim was also recognized as the third place winner with her entry called “Chirrup” (a bird on a stirrup). This was made with colored pencil and is beautifully detailed picture. Congratulations to Kim Tresnak for her entries and awards received.
To view these entries, the rest of the award winners and the other 35 artists displays at the Celebrate the Hills Art show, stop by the Moorhead Cultural Center, 120 Oak Street, September 25 through November 8th, open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 1-4 p.m. For questions, please call Diann 712-880-1185.
