City of Mapleton Minutes - Regular Council Meeting June 13, 2024 The regular meeting of the city council was scheduled for June 12, 2024 at 5:30 p.m.  Due to lack of a quorum the meeting was moved to June 13, 2024, 5:30 p.m. Roll call was taken with the following members present, Jacob Zawodny, Zach Schrader, Joe Hogan and Mayor Brent Streck. Absent was Benita Uhl and Abby Koenigs. Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Jacob Zach Schrader to approve minutes from the previous meeting. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Joe Hogan, second by Jacob Zawodny to approve the order of the agenda. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Joe Hogan to continue with discussion and talk with the city attorney to determine what type of agreement he would suggest between them and the City of Mapleton and the Open Cupboard for a monthly food distribution. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Zach Schrader to approve sending letters to the properties discussed for clean-up. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Zach Schrader, second by Joe Hogan to approve cigarette licenses for Casey’s, Mapleton Cenex, Dollar General and Main Street Spirits. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Zach Schrader, second by Jacob Zawodny to approve trading in two shotguns and two rifles in exchange for two new shot guns and $430.00.  Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Zach Schrader to approve the purchase of two rifles to be paid for after July 1, 2024 at a cost of $2,644.00. These rifles will be identical to what is used by Monona County.  Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Zach Schrader, second by Jacob Zawodny to approve the purchase of a TV for the police office from InControl who will install the tv and the camera system. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Joe Hogan, second by Zach Schrader to approve the sale of ammunition that is not needed by our police department to Monona County for $575.00.  Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Joe Hogan, second by Jacob Zawodny to approve hiring Dillon Stroman as a part-time officer. Ayes: All.  Motion carried.  Dillon does not require the psychological testing and also already has his own vest. Motion by Jacob Zawodny, second by Zach Schrader to approve trading in of the 2022 grooming mower at a cost not to exceed $6,375.00.  Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Joe Hogan, second by Jacob Zawodny to approve payment of bills as presented. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Joe Hogan, second by Zach Schrader to adjourn the meeting. Ayes: All.
