City of Mapleton Minutes - Regular Council Meeting May 8, 2024 The regular meeting of the city council was held on May 8, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. Roll call was taken with the following members present, Benita Uhl, Jacob Zawodny, Zach Schrader, Abby Koenigs, Joe Hogan and Mayor Brent Streck. Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Jacob Zawodny to approve minutes from the previous meeting. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Zach Schrader to approve the order of the agenda with one correction that visitor Jon Pinkelman is not with the Monona County Sheriff’s Department. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Zach Schrader, second by Jacob Zawodny to approve the variance request presented by Marilyn Anderson for a garage at 404 So. 5th Street that was approved by the Board of Adjustment. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Benita Uhl, second by Abby Koenigs to approve the agreement with Connections Area Agency on Aging to use the community center to serve meals Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Zach Schrader, second by Benita Uhl to purchase a new gas powered heated power washer with hose reel, bracket and 100’ hose for $8,116.75 and pay for after July 1, 2024 if possible. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Zach Schrader, second by Joe Hogan to approve the purchase of a motor, installation and programming at a cost of $32,273.29 for the new well house and to allow an additional $2,000.00 to cover any increase since the bid was received to be paid after July 1, 2024. Ayes: All. Motion carried. Motion by Joe Hogan, second by Jacob Zawodny to approve payment of bills as presented. Ayes: All. Motion carried.
