Minutes Of the Regular Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Schleswig Community School District June 7, 2024 Call to Order: President Gurney called the meeting to order at 12:03 p.m. Members Present: Wade Gurney, Jason Schneider, Danette Miller (via phone) Absent: Rachel Jacobson, Cindy March Administration: Mike Pardun, Superintendent, Scott Larson, Business Manager/Board Secretary, Andrea Gurney, Principal, Mallory Meyer, Business Manager/Board Secretary, Kim Buryanek, Superintendent Others Present: Correspondence: None Consent Items - A motion was made by Jason Schneider, second by Danette Miller, to approve the consent items (agenda, minutes, bills, and financial reports). Unanimous approval. Personnel Report Resignations- Jason Schneider moved to approve the resignation of Janet Gritten, Associate. Second by Danette Miller. Ayes: Miller, Schneider and W. Gurney. Nays: None. Motion Carried. Appointments- Danette Miller moved to approve the appointment of Madison Wight, Special Education Teacher. Second by Jason Schneider. Ayes: Schneider, Miller, and W. Gurney. Nays: None. Motion Carried. Superintendent Report Approval of Legislative Priorities for 2025 – Jason Schneider moved to approve mental health, teacher retention and recruitment, and finances as the legislative priorities for 2025. Second by Danette Miller. Ayes: Miller, Schneider, and W. Gurney. Nays: None. Motion Carried. Update on IASB School Improvement Needs Assessment for 2024-2025 – Mr. Pardun will work with Dr. Buryanek to move forward with the IASB School Improvement Needs Assessment. Discussion on Community Service Requirement for Schleswig CSD Middle School – The Board requested further discussion regarding student community service work to align with the District’s mission statement. The Board plans to define their expectations at their next regular meeting. Administrator Update- Mrs. Gurney shared: -8th Grade trip was a success-favorites included Robber’s Cave and ropes course -Request for the school to be open for tours during Calf Show Days -Request for fundraising ideas -Need to hire Associates for 2024-25 school year -Summer school began this week -Back to School Bash will be August 21 Move Regular July School Board meeting to July 8, 2024 at Noon – This item was tabled.
