Minutes Of the Regular Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Schleswig Community School District July 8, 2024 Call to Order: President Gurney called the meeting to order at 5:35 p.m. Members Present: Wade Gurney, Cindy March, Danette Miller Absent: Rachel Jacobsen, Jason Schneider Administration: Kim Buryanek, Superintendent; Andrea Gurney, Principal; Mallory Meyer, Business Manager/Board Secretary Others Present: Correspondence: None Consent Items - A motion was made by Danette Miller, second by Cindy March, to approve the consent items (agenda, minutes, bills, and financial reports). Unanimous approval. Personnel Report Resignations- None Appointments- None Superintendent Report Update on IASB Needs Assessment 2024-2025 – Dr. Buryanek presented survey questions provided by IASB. The survey will be completed in early October. Discussion on Community Service Requirement for Schleswig CSD Middle School – The Board discussed the need for a community service requirement, but realized the challenges associated with such. It was decided to not move forward with a requirement at this time. Resolution Authorizing Issuance of Individual Procurement Cards – Cindy March moved to approve the resolution as presented. Seconded by Danette Miller. Ayes: March, Miller, Gurney. Nays: None. Motion Carried. Approve 2024-2025 Consortium Agreement with Children’s Square and Heartland Family Service – Danette Miller moved to approve the agreement as presented. Seconded by Cindy March. Ayes: Miller, March, Gurney. Nays: None. Motion Carried. Discuss Expiration of Voter Approved Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) – The Board discussed the upcoming expiration of the Voter Approved Physical Plant and Equipment Levy. Resolution Ordering Election on the Question of Continuing to Levy a Voter Approved Physical Plant and Equipment Property Tax – Cindy March moved to approve the resolution as presented. Seconded by Danette Miller. Ayes: March, Miller, Gurney. Nays: None. Motion Carried. First Reading of 303.6 Administrator Code of Ethics, 404 Employee Code of Conduct, 404 R1 Employee Code of Conduct Regulation, 705.1R2 Using Federal Funds in Procurement Contracts Schleswig CSD Board Policies – Cindy March moved to approve the policies as presented. Seconded by Danette Miller. Ayes: Miller, March, Gurney. Nays: None. Motion Carried. Administrator Update- Mrs. Gurney shared: -The Back-to-School Bash menu is being finalized. -Kindergarten students are invited to tour the school prior to the Back-to-School Bash. -Facebook notices have been scheduled for registration information. -The District is looking to hire a PE teacher and an Associate.
